Our Environmental Initiative

Within our industry we are leading edge innovators in environmental sustainability.  Businesses are becoming aware of and mobilizing printed fabrics for their visual graphics and imagery as a result of the significant environmental benefits.

TFCN Environmental Initiative

Printing doesn’t have to hurt our planet.

From the inks to the fabric to the printing...

We are continually striving to reduce our environmental impact and increase our social responsibility through sustainable green printing practices.

Why Fabric?

  • Fabric is re-usable and bio-degradable whereas vinyl (the other most commonly used material) heads straight to the landfill where - depending on the PVC - can take hundreds of years to break down.
  • Fabric is 1/3 the weight of vinyl banners of equal size. Fabric banners use 70% less material and energy in their initial production.
  • Fabric is more energy efficient when transported then the heavy traditional vinyl banners which often need to be packaged in high volume tubes.
  • Fabric can be re-used multiple times where vinyl tends to be used once then discarded to the landfill. No risk of creases, kinks or damage (unlike traditional vinyl banners) meaning less replacements and less wastage.
We are continually striving to reduce our environmental impact and increase our social responsibility through sustainable green printing practices.

High Energy Water Based Inks

  • Our high energy inks have excellent resistance to fading by the sun.
  • Water based inks are environmentally friendly with little or no VOCS (Volatile Organic Compounds). Vinyl banners use solvent based inks which are carcinogenic by nature.

Digital Printing - Performance Without Waste

  • Digital printing is a “plate-less” process. Consumes far fewer materials translating into lower energy usage and reduced environmental impact.
  • Digital direct-to-fabric printing rules out excessive waste paper as commonly utilized in transfer dye-sub systems. Digital fabric printing consumes far fewer materials (i.e.: transfer paper).
  • Printing fabric digitally uses half the ink of screen printing methods and results in far less waste being discharged into the drains. There is no washing of the screens or changing colours so water consumption is reduced by approximately half.

TFCN’s state-of-the-art digital printer

  • Our printers use 30% less power than other leading printers and 75% less power than many other digital flat bed printers.
  • The heat set process is paperless with no protection paper needed.
  • The heat set machine uses far less operating energy and takes only 5 minutes to heat up compared to older technology. This reduces electricity usage by up to 50%.
  • Due to our advance printing technology, our fabrics no longer needs special coatings to produce clear crisp images.
  • 3 m / 10’ wide printing capabilities and can produce one single run of up to 300’ resulting in less fabric waste and less energy.
